What we build
Built so the water never gets past the membrane
A tiled shower is a waterproofing job with tile on top of it. Tile and grout are not waterproof — water gets through both. What keeps it out of your framing is the membrane and the pan underneath, and that is the part nobody sees once the job is done.
So that is where the time goes. We take the old surround out, look at what is actually behind it, fix what is soft or out of plumb, then build and waterproof the substrate before any tile is set.

How a shower goes in
The order matters more than the tile
Skip a step here and the failure shows up two years later, behind the wall, where fixing it means taking the whole thing out again.

Strip back and check the framing
Old surround out, substrate inspected. If something behind it is soft or out of plumb, it gets fixed now rather than tiled over.

Slope the pan
Water has to reach the drain from every point in the pan. That slope is built in deliberately, not hoped for.

Waterproof, then test
Bonded membrane over the pan and walls, seams and corners sealed, drain tied in. This is the layer doing the real work.

Set the tile
Layout planned so cuts fall out of eyeline, full tiles land where the eye goes first, and the grout lines run true.

Can you replace a fiberglass tub surround with a tiled shower?
Yes — that is a job we do regularly. We remove the old surround, rebuild and waterproof the substrate, then tile the shower to match the new floor.
Do you supply the tile and materials?
We offer discounted pricing on materials and will help you choose them, then handle the whole process from start to finish. Ashley does most of the material side.
Are estimates free?
Yes. We offer complimentary in-home estimates for both residential and commercial work.
Are you licensed?
Yes — Oregon CCB #238301, licensed, bonded and insured. Anyone can look that number up on the Construction Contractors Board site.
